Charlie’s leadership and consulting expertise is derived from a culmination of 39 years with General Motors.
A native of Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, he received a bachelor’s degree in 1986 from Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario.
He joined GM in 1977 as an hourly employee in GM of Canada. He covered many key manufacturing disciplines positions in Canada and the U.S. before moving to Customer Care and Aftersales in 1999. In 2001- he became the Executive Director, GM Customer Care and Aftersales Warehousing and Distribution. As a leader, Charlie empowered his team and applied innovative practices to lead GM North America to be the benchmark in parts availability and warehousing operations.
Charlie was tapped to be Vice President, GM Global Aftersales Supply Chain, Warehousing and Logistics in October 2013 and he led the company to improve safety, quality, cost and customer service. The organization brought together GM’s global warehousing with warehouses aligned with manufacturing operations around the world. Working as an integrated team, the group applied lean common processes to deliver benchmark levels of service to customers in every region while reducing complexity and cost.
Charlie retires in March 2016 and founded River Bend Consulting LLC to pursue his passion for motivating and coaching aspiring leaders through the presentation of his longtime manifesto – “The Power of Leadership.” In addition to a full calendar of public speaking and leadership seminar engagements, Charlie is actively engaged as a consultant for warehousing, supply chain, manufacturing and logistics for global industrial solutions.
Charlie’s Angel is his wife Lucy. They enjoy spending time with their children, grand children and their very dear golden-doodle “Miss Rose.”
